Accommodations

Domina Zagarella Sicily

Window to the Mediterranean Sea

Located next to Castello di Solanto and on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, Domina Zagarella Sicily is a luxury resort designated as our top choice for accommodating our guests. The property has three restaurants, two big outdoor swimming pools, a diving center, a fully equipped gym, a cigar lounge, a pool bar, direct sea access, sunbathing terraces, and a beautiful Mediterranean garden.

The hotel offers 324 rooms + 30 villas, most of which come with a balcony and sea view. Bedrooms are designed in the style of the 60’s and 70’s – the “Dolce Vita” age.

In addition to this resort, there are several options for Air B&B and we will assist all attendees in making sure the accommodations fit their needs.

If you are planning on staying at the resort you can now reserve your room online through the resort's website. Be sure to let them know you are part of the wedding in the notes section of the reservation.

Travel

Traveling to Europe is an adventure and there are several ways to do it. The following information is provided to help you plan your trip and get you to Sicily as stress free as possible.

The most expedient way to get to Sicily is by plane. The airport you want to fly into is the Palermo airport, officially called the Falcone Borsellino Airport, Code PMO. Upon arrival, we will have a car and driver waiting for you and they will take you to the resort.

Coming from the states, the most common flight is one that connects through Rome although there are several other airports you can connect from such as Milan, Barcelona, and London. The connecting flight is usually a smaller regional plane supplied by ITA, Ryanair, or Iberian.

As you plan you trip, keep in mind time changes and windows of operation. Once you land at the connecting airport you may find you have a long layover until the next connecting flight to Sicily. Many travelers fly into Rome, as an example, stay the night in Rome to get acclimated and then fly on to Sicily the next day.

In addition to flying into Sicily, Italy has an excellent train system that can get you there as well. High speed trains run everywhere and the train from Rome to Palermo is a standard route. If coming by train, just know the train will have to board a ferry to bring it onto Sicily, something that is amazing to see! Beware that the travel time from Rome to Palermo, by train, is about 11 hours due to connections and the ferry.

Once in Sicily, you will surely use the train to take your day trips and the resort offers shuttle service to the nearest train station, which is about a 20 minute walk.

Rental cars are available for pickup at the Palermo airport as well as in the city. We will have a car service available to us to take us to and from the airport as well as other various activities we have planned.

Taxi service is also readily available as needed.

The Venue

Castello di Solanto

One of the most magnificent and imposing castles in Sicily, Castello di Solanto is a historical structure overhanging the sea and at 15 kilometers from Palermo. Together with La Tonnara are two unique historical and aristocratic residences that differ from each other and express great charm. They are positioned in a breathtaking natural setting. The castle stands in a splendid position in the middle of two bays overlooking the romantic gulf. The tower, which is the oldest part of this edifice, was built during the Norman period as a defensive bulwark of the adjacent Tonnara.
